Pay Fees
I am interested in what the going rate for officials for this year is (2006-07).
What are you getting for a two person crew JV/V game? What are you getting for a three person crew JV/V game? What are you getting for a two person crew BG/V game? What are you getting for a three person crew BG/V game? Do you get mileage? If you can tell me where you are located, that may help. Thanks everyone!! The only conference that requires officials to work both in Chicago is the Chicago Public League. They play the varsity first and the JV/Sophomore second. They pay about $90 for both games, $55 for a single game if there is no JV/Sophomore game. BTW, this is discussed about every 2 or 3 months. You might want to do a search of site and you will see more variations to this question. Peace

Connecticut Fees
Regular season basketball games under CIAC (Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference) control:
All two-man games: Varsity boys and girls basketball: $ 79.87 per official per game. Subvarsity boys and girls basketball: $ 51.77 per official per game. 150 % of fee if you happen to work a game by yourself. No mileage fees. The only three-man games that our local IAABO board does during the regualar season are games in the "Doc Hurley Classic", which raises money for college scholarships for high school seniors in the greater Hartford area. We donate our services for free to this "Classic". I understand that the local IAABO board that covers New Haven County may do some regular season three-man games involving inner-city schools, but I'm not sure about their pay rate. I heard that the three-man crew divides the two, two-man checks, evenly, three ways, but don't quote me on this. CIAC post-season tournament games are negotiated with the various officiating groups each year. Presently we use three-man crews in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of all basketball (school population) divisions. Our regular season fee increase every year is based on the average public school teacher's pay increase for the entire State of Connecticut, i.e. if the average pay increase for public school teachers in Connecticut is 2.5 %, our basketball officials' fee will increase by 2.5 %. We've been doing this for several years now and it has eliminated the contract negotitions that used to occur every few years. I believe that the fee increase guidelines apply to all CIAC sports, not just basketball. Last edited by BillyMac; Sun Dec 31, 2006 at 08:39pm. |

We do not get mileage. Tournament pays $65 sectional $70 district $80 regional $100 state We do get mileage for tournament |

In Louisiana....
Subvarsity fees are negotiated by each local officials association with the principals of the schools serviced. Varsity fees are set by the LA State High School Association of principals. Two-person crews are regularly used throughout the state, except for a couple of associations which have gone strictly 3-person and for playoffs. 2 person - JV usually $15-20 each official 2 or 3 person - JV/JV usually $30-$40 each official 2 or 3 person - V $24.50 - $27 plus $2 for approved officials or $6 for certified officials (fee depends upon classification of schools; seldom is there a single varsity game assignment) 2 or 3 person - JV/V $36 plus $2 for approved officials or $6 for certified officials 2 or 3 person - V/V $36 plus $2 for approved officials or $6 for certified officials (THIS IS THE TYPICAL OFFICIATING ASSIGNMENT IN LOUISIANA) 2 or 3 person - JV/V/V $54 plus $2 for approved officials or $6 for certified officials 3 person State Playoffs - V $40 plus $5 for approved officials or $10 for certified officials 3 person State Tournament Game (state semifinals and finals): $55 There is a 60 cents, one-way, one car mileage allowance. I did a comparison of game fees from quite a few states a few months ago, and while it may not be completely accurate for all places (apparently there is a lot of variation in some states), there are links to the appropriate state sites so that you can check for yourself: http://www.rusty1.com/officiating/gamefees.htm We are trying to do something right now about the fees in Louisiana. We've not had a "game fee" increase in over 10 years. Pray for us! Last edited by Rusty Gilbert; Sun Dec 31, 2006 at 08:18pm. |

http://www.lhsaa.org/sports/basketba...allby-laws.pdf Look at the chart on p. 17 under section 12.16.6 for "Basketball officials' fees - adopted by LHSAA schools in all classes" Of course, when travel is added in and, depending upon if you were registered ($0 increase), approved ($2 increase), or certified ($6 increase) with the LHSAA, the actual check that night was probably more than the basic game fee. I'd say most officials with some experience bring home $42 - $50 ($36 plus patch plus mileage) for a varsity doubleheader. |

I'd have to say that the LA fees are quite lousy. |

I'm in Charleston, WV - every board in the state has different fees. Our are among the highest in the state, but not the highest.
HS Varsity (2 person) $70-$90 HS Varsity (3 person) $55-$60 JV & 9th Grade $40 Middle School Varsity $36 Middle School JV $30 (Middle school usually has a JV game plus a boy's & girls varstiy games so the paycheck $102) Mileage for varsity games is $30 for a 50 mile radius plus $10 if you travel on the WV Turnpike.
