Question Holiday quiz

Which current NBA team has had the most names during its history and what were (are) they? I know the answer - do you?

Off the top of my head:

Rochester Royals -- Cincinnati Royals -- KC/Omaha Kings -- KC Kings -- Sacramento Kings

Not bad at all - but they're second on the list.

In 1961-62, the Chicago Packers joined the NBA. The next year their name was changed to the Zephyrs. That team too only lasted one year, moving to Baltimore as the Bullets until the 72-73 season. In 73-74, they had the odd name of the Capital Bullets. In 74-75, they were what most people here likely remember as the Washington Bullets. In 1997, they changed to the Washington Wizards.

Also, the Baltimore Bullets (I) played 1947-1955 and was disbanded November 27, 1955.

Gosh, I feel like JR doing this research.

You got it:

Chicago Packers
Chicago Zephyrs
Baltimore Bullets
Capital Bullets
Washington Bullets
Washington Wizards

The Portland NBA team is on it's way to the top - so far we have had the Portland Trailblazers and the Portland Jailblazers. Only four more to go!

We may be able to surmise some future names:

Portland Paroleblazers
Portland Repeatblazers

And prior to each game they blast the National Anthem as played by Felonius Monk.

But it goes well with the team's theme song - "For He's a Jolly Good Felon".

In case you're wondering, here's the lyrics:

For he's a jolly good felon
For he's a jolly good felon
For he's a jolly good felon
He's now doing three to five

It was about here that Jay Leno commented, "Did you hear that one of the NBA teams is changing its name because their present name sounds too violent? From now on, the Washington Bullets will simply be known as 'the Bullets'."
Washington Wizards

One of the best NBA jokes I've ever heard.
