In 1961-62, the Chicago Packers joined the NBA. The next year their name was changed to the Zephyrs. That team too only lasted one year, moving to Baltimore as the Bullets until the 72-73 season. In 73-74, they had the odd name of the Capital Bullets. In 74-75, they were what most people here likely remember as the Washington Bullets. In 1997, they changed to the Washington Wizards.

In case you're wondering, here's the lyrics:

[QUOTE=Mark Padgett]You got it:
Chicago Packers Chicago Zephyrs Baltimore Bullets Capital Bullets Washington Bullets It was about here that Jay Leno commented, "Did you hear that one of the NBA teams is changing its name because their present name sounds too violent? From now on, the Washington Bullets will simply be known as 'the Bullets'." Washington Wizards One of the best NBA jokes I've ever heard. |
