10 second count

Hey had this in a game today and just woundering. I am lead so it was actually my partners problem but A1 is bringing the ball up after team B scored. B1 tips the ball and it goes out of bounds. and A has a throwin still backcourt. Does the 10 second count start over.
He said it did being that he was more experienced I just sayed okay but to me it seems that since B never had control A was still in team control and thus the ten second count should continue.

9-8 A player shall not be, nor may his/her team be, in continuous control of a ball which is in his/her backcourt for 10 seconds.

Partner was correct. Think of it this way: There's no player or team control during the throw-in following the out of bounds violation.
