JEFFPA -- if the coach requested TO while his player was in the act of shooting why did you not give him the timeout?
unless the ball was out of hand when he first requested TO -- but give him the TO and if the shot goes in OH well who can complain -- coach asked you gave him TO move on. but a coach on the court and interfereing with play T -- of course if he had requested that TO and he should have been awarded and now he has a T for interfering -- thats gonna be quite a pickle you got yourself into. My first game yesterday -- girl picks up dribble and is trapped -- i am on about 3 for my 5 count and she begins to pass -- once the ball starts leaving her hand the coach is yelling for TO (this of course happens much faster than this) and he keeps yelling TO while ball is in the air. Slight tip from defense and offense catches the ball. Coach still kept yelling for timeout since all this took about 1 maybe 2 seconds and he was scared for a 5 count. Once his girl caught the ball if he didnt say anything i would have quickly glanced back and said fast do you still want that TO. But since he asked once the girl caught it I gave him. He said Oh no I dont want it now -- but he took it because he clearly asked for it when his player had possession. I cannot read minds so If a coach asks and i can legally award him a TO -- I do. |
