Moving Up in the Association

Was being evaluated the other night to be moved up to Majors' List. I kept getting conflicting feedback from the evaluators however. For instance, one told me to step down as the Trail (which I incorporated immediately); then another evaluator told me that I'm working too hard..."if the players are moving, why should you compromise your good angle."

How do I handle this. The former had no vote, the latter does.

Umm...consistency? lol

I think you thank each evaluator for their feedback and make sure you try to do what they want when they are evaluating you. No "yeah buts".

Then try to find what works best for you.

I work real low in the slot in certain situations because I really like the angle. Ive been told this is A ) perfect and B ) too low by different and excellent officials so your case isn't the first of differing opinions on where to be.

One assignor I work for says "there is no perfect spot". "Find the spot that gives you the best angle". I think to me that justifies that there isn't a X right at the free throw line extended for the slot to stand on so I move around a lot myself.

Welcome to politics. LOL

I'd lean more towards the suggestion of those who have more of a say. But you also have to learn "When in Rome..." which partly means remembering what each evaluator wants.

Honestly, in the end, I think as long as you work hard and can actually ref, you will be fine. Go to camp, watch the vets work, be proactive in your local, and be a sponge all the time.

Welcome to the wonderful world of being evaluated. The odd thing is that they are both right, at least partially. Different things work well for different people, and what each told you undoubtedly works well for them. So take both pieces of advice, and try them both. See which one works best for you, then put that one in your bag 'o tricks and quietly leave the other aside. Or, if they both work well, then double-bonus, toss 'em both in the bag. But either way, listen to what the evaluator has to say, thank them for their time and effort on your behalf, and never ya'butt

So... did you get moved up?

The only time I ever say "yabut" is when someone asks me if I brought my lunch to work. As in, "Yabut I can easily be talked into Red Robin."

Thanks...

Thanks to all that have responded. Won't know if I've gotten moved up until the end of the season during the final association meeting. Honestly, the association is rumored to be one of the best in the state. We are constantly evaluated. Just when it comes to promotion time, there's a bit more strict scrutiny.

Much appreciated!!!
