3 on 3 Mechanics

Greetings:

Gus Macker is in town this weekend. I remember reading a thread maybe sometime last summer about what might be best. I am asking the forum to revist 3 on 3 one man mechanics...top of the key (a floating trail so to speak) seemed to have a lot of good arguments for it. Under the basket (lead)was another. There is no "good" spot, must just do your best with what feels comfortable was yet another :-) .....thoughts?

I prefer working the lead in these games. As you say, there is no good spot. But the plays that matter most are those going to the basket and I'd rather call those plays when they're coming at me rather than going away from me.

I generally do what BITS suggested....work from lead. A majority of your situations will be covered best from there. However, when the ball is really high and there is defensive pressure, I do get really wide and maybe even onto the court a step or two if no players are in that area.

I prefer sitting in a beach chair watching someone else work these games.

In fact I prefer sitting in a beach chair watching anything else but these games.

Hard to beat the view from a good beach chair.

The best mechanic is to say no when someone calls. Although there are a few local tourneys that can work out okay. But ask around and find someone that worked that tourney last year. Probably, your "hang up the phone mechanic" will need to be polished off and put into practice.
