Score on a bounced ball?

I usually restrict my participation to the softball board but my daughter asked me a b-ball question that I could not answer. IF, by some stroke of luck a desperation buzzer shot taken from the opposite end of the court bounces once and goes in the basket does the "shot" count? If so, 2 points or 3 points.

This question was prompted while watching the NCAA men's tournament this year. The ball didn't go in after the bounce but it was close enough to beg the question.

Thanks for your help.

if the ball goes in before the buzzer goes off it is indeed counted. It would be a 2 point goal because it is no longer a shot after it hits the floor. If the buzzer sounds before the ball goes in the bucket it won't count, again because after it hits the floor it is no longer a shot, so the quarter won't be extended through the end of the try.

This is true, but slightly inaccurate. The thrown ball ceases to be a try as soon as it is clear that it will not be successful. So as soon as the ball is obviously short, or when the ball falls below the level of the rim, it is no longer a try. Technical point, but just a little clarification.
