So, uh, JRut, you a White Sox or a Cub fan? ;)
I grew up a Cardinal's fan (I grew up hating the Cubs with a passion). I lived in a town where I always heard and saw Cardinal's games as kid and we were closer to St. Louis than Chicago. So my first love is with the Cardinal's. I have lived in Chicago for 6 years going on 7 and I worked on the Southside when I moved to this area. I have cheered for the sox or listened to their games on the radio for a few years now. I would not call myself a long time sox fan, but I was very happy for the organization and the people involved. It is kind of ironic, the President of one of my organizations (where I am Vice-President) works for the White Sox in the Sox/Bulls training facility. I am happy for all for all those I know that grew up Sox fans and give the Cubs hell for it.

Peace

Great series!!!

eventhough it was a sweep, it was still a great world series! no it didn't go 7 games, but every game was great! The Astros had a chance to win every game and just couldn't catch a break!!! Congrats to the sox fans and the organization! I'm just glad it's over, bring on the HOOPS!

Ahh, I get it; you only root for two teams - the Cardinals, and whoever plays the Cubs.

It's kinda funny, I think the Cub-Sox rivalry is one-sided. Sox fans really hate Cub fans, but Cub fans don't really hate Sox fans (they actually hate Cardinal fans). Maybe it has to do with the Cardinals actually having more success in my lifetime than the White Sox. However, if this trend keeps up, I can learn to hate the Sox too... ;)

You know, Chuck,

I actually thought that too, watching live on the 'real' take. But, then (after waiting about ten minutes) when they re-played the last two outs (made by SS Uribe,) I got to see it in slow-mo; Ump got it right. It WAS dang close--almost not a bang-banger, but it was. It was a Good Game, I thought.

Thanks, I turned out the lights and hit the sack as the White Sox were still jumping around the pitcher's mound. I couldn't keep my eyes open for the extra 10 minutes.

the Herd on ESPN radio

This morning host Colin Cowherd said "If the White Sox have such great fans, then why do the cubs out draw them by 3,000 every game."

A cubs fan called in and said, "I think people enjoy Wrigley more because it is like a beer garden."

WOW! Anyway, it was a great series and it is nice to see some new faces in the series!

Chuck,

Actually it is deeper than that for me. I have watched this team and cheered for this team for some time now. I am not a fan that grew up with this team, but I have cheered for them ever since Jerry Manual was manager and cheered for a General Manager that has tried hard to bring in a winner. These guys have been hammered by the media and their fans and finally accomplished this great feat. Who cares about the Cubs? The only reason the Cubs have a following is because people are into Wrigley Field, Cubs fans do not care if the team wins.

Peace

I totally understand your take on this, but I wasn't the one who cracked on you about the Cubs/Cards thing. Just didn't want you to think that I was on you about it.

I did not take it that way. I just wanted you to know I was not a "life long" Sox fan. I just live in the area of a team I cheer for. I am happy for the city and the fans as much as anything.

Peace

I appreciate that. It's very thoughtful. But I never commented on your choice of teams. That's all I was trying to tell you above.

So since we're talking about the Sox, someone help out an uninformed, baseball-illiterate observer. Is "Sox" singular, or plural?

It's handled the same way you would pox, lox or xerox.

btw, that thing you move around with your hand that's attached to your computer? what's the plural of that?

You mean switch boxes?? Coffee cups?? Telephones??

Infrared receivers? Device ports? keyboards? speakers? cables? To what are you referring?

Dan_ref Thu Oct 27, 2005 11:41am

2 questions:

1. Have you spoken to your doctor about your apparently uncontrollable urge to move all these things around?

2. Why is your coffee cup connected to your computer?

and a 3rd, metaphysical question:

Can God make a bear that is too big to sh!t in the woods?

Jurassic Referee Thu Oct 27, 2005 11:42am

Quit kidding.

All of you.
