His point is you can't do your job as the Center official on free throws if you don't know both pieces of the puzzle. Therefore it doesn't make sense for one official to take the shooter and another official to make sure the ball hits the room.

It doesn't make any sense to me either. Unless they're identical twins and have some type of a shared extra sensory perception.
