True, but it might add to the fine that he’ll probably receive from the conference.

By the way, didn’t Raymond say something recently about college coaches being relatively mature, restrained, and more intelligent as compared to HS coaches?

Yeah, LOL. He admits in the article he wanted the first technical foul. Guess that didn't work out too well when he got a second one.

Again, another example of somebody making it all about themselves and taking away from the players and the game. It's funny how fans and coaches are the ones who do this but they're always hurling that accusation at officials simply for blowing our whistles and making a call.

Fire Up ...

We see this here on the high school level, and even on the middle school level (I was a middle school coach for 25 years).

Sometimes a coach just wants to show his players, parents, and fans that he's paying attention, knows the rules, cares about the game, and supports his players when it's obvious that officials just screwed up in a manner that negatively effected his players (bad foul call, or bad foul no call, etc.), and/or team (not necessarily cheating, I have not known officials to cheat, exception Tim Donaghy).

And sometimes a coach just wants to "fire up" his players, and/or fans (who, in turn, fire up the players).

This was lot more common when NFHS technical foul penalties were less severe, only one free throw (did I dream that), and when there was no coaching box (seatbelt all the time, with some exceptions by rule) to be taken away.

Well, he did say that and it is still true. But high school coaches often do other crap as a whole that you never see coaches do at the college level. These guys know what they are doing and do it with a level of intention. High school coaches will do stuff and will be oblivious to what the result might be. So they will curse, yell and threaten and wonder why they got ejected from the game or even get the first T. And we are also talking about two of the most well known unprofessional individuals in all of college basketball. Hurley at UConn has been involved in a few incidents as a coach, even getting a double T with another coach. This is not his first rodeo. The coach at Illinois is used to losing his shit and doing so often, but he works in a conference that does not deal with him with Ts when he does lose his shit. But if I told you the situation that happened to me just in my last playoff game and the things coaches did, you never see coaches do the things these coaches did in these specific examples. Their situations are rather tame to the things we often see at the high school level or even small college level because there is not the crowd to support that mess.

Peace
