Especially when the L has to look at the feet and then up to the hands. It's easier to see if you're farther away.

Would anyone as the Trail (new lead) call that out of bounds if you were certain his foot touched down OOB before he released it? Just curious where people would draw the line between getting it right and respecting your partner's area of coverage

Nope, because it would be a guess and it is not obvious.
