I saw the video of both situations. Coach Dawn Staley was being very childish. I get things are not going your way, but she was being very childish with how she handles things. For one the play where she seemed to get upset was a foul. Her top player had a charge right before where it was clearly a foul on her for driving her shoulder into the defender. Then in the press conference, she complained that "No other player that was a candidate for the best player of the year played less in the first half" or something to that nature. She really acted silly in the press conference as if the officials are supposed to care who is playing the damn game. This is exactly why in a previous thread I had no issue with what Teddy did because this behavior or entitlement is again silly. Who gives a rat's ass who her player is or who she thinks should be treating her a certain way. Missouri was kicking their behind and if she coached instead of pouted, she might have won the game.
Peace

It's one of the 4 DOG warnings. I just looked it up to confirm.

So I guess if a coach pulled a stunt like this you’d warn him, then start another 15 seconds, then T if he still hasn’t put anyone in. |

This popped today on my Google Feed:
SEC officiating came under fire at Mizzou Arena | Eye on the Tigers | stltoday.com Apparently Staley was complaining about the assigned officials before the game started: "Staley went on to connect the assignment of the game's officials to her team’s NCAA Tournament implications. Staley contacted SEC coordinator of officials Sally Bell to lodge a complaint about the officials — before Sunday’s tipoff." Her response to not replacing her player: "“Beats me,” she said. “They told me I had to go. I didn’t say anything. I just sat there.”"

This was on the link that someone else highlighted earlier. Look at her comments about the situation. Peace

The "dirty" plays at that link are hard to get upset about. The angle is bad on the first one but you can see that gold 21 didn't have sufficient velocity to result in the reaction that occurred. That looks like a player who is playing like a victim and trying to garner sympathy from the officials. Just play.
The second one looks like a lot of the same. I believe they called a foul on gold 3 on that play, but the defender's reaction is over the top. Again, looks like a victim. Just play. I think that a coach that tell their players they are being cheated and are the victim of bad calls is doing them a disservice. Just play your game. |
