This wasn't a pay-to-play camp type situation as has been speculated. The two officials working the championship game are well respected college officials from the area. I've worked many games with both and neither are the type to shy away from addressing inappropriate behavior. I also visited with the director of officiating for the tournament and he basically said they handled the situation appropriately.

Personally, if you can't figure out that running your mouth is going to get you into trouble after the first one or two T's, then it seems like the problem speaks for itself.
Thanks for the personal insight into this story. How were your games?

Uneventful, just the way I like them.

Thanks for the reply and insight.

Does the camp enforce discipline rules (i.e. 5 fouls/2 T's = DQ)? IF not, I think this is one of the main problems with these types of camps - no consequences for their actions.

You said it wasn't a pay-to-play. Am I safe in assuming it was invite-only then?

Appreciate the response and apologize for the assumptions.

Wasn't a camp, just your run of the mill youth tourney, not much different than an AAU tourney. There was no clinic or camp for the officials, they were all hired independently, wasn't invite only. I called up the assignor and said "work me Friday morning until 3pm".

Standard NFHS rules with some adjustments to timing. Players were DQ'd after 5 fouls or 2 T's as per standard rules. In the situation above, I believe one of the kids had just gotten his 2nd T when the team walked off.
