Proceeding's of penalties awarded
During a Game the following had occurred, a shooting foul was called, followed by a Technical foul, the order of the penalties awarded was 1 Tech foul FT, 2 Free throws for the player fouled on the shot, and possession to the same team.
is this correct? i had remembered that while this happens only 3 FT's are awarded (first without Defenders in the zone) , following by regular Free throws. Last edited by tolikras; Mon Jul 24, 2017 at 05:44am. |

I want to make sure I have the situation correct.
B1 Fouls A1 who is in the act of shooting - shot misses. Team B then is given a Technical foul? If that's correct this is the order. FIBA Rules - all penalties take place in the order they happened. All free throws will be shot with the lane cleared: A1 shoots 2 shots for the initial foul Any player from team A shoots 1 shot for the technical foul. Team A receives the ball at half court. NFHS is the same as FIBA except 2 FT's for the technical foul.
NCAA (M and W) would depend on whether it's an unsporting (noncontact) technical foul or a contact dead ball technical foul. The former is a POI administration where the T is shot first; the latter is order of occurrence (with different throw-in spots for M and W). |
