Until the late 1980s NFHS Basketball Officials Manual and the CCA Men's and Women's Manuals for NCAA Men's and Women's allowed only wedding rings to be worn. Starting in the late 1980s the CCA Men's and Women's Manuals prohibited the wearing of wedding rings.

Wedding band

I take mine off for every game, and clip it to an extra lanyard in my whistle bag. More than 50% of the time I forget to put it back on when getting changed after the game and get home without my band on. Thank goodness my wife trusts me or doesn't notice me coming home late at night without my wedding band on! Since the NCAA has asked us not to wear them, I've taken it off.

Some officials around here feel it is OK to wear a Fitbit on their wrist while officiating.
Next tihing you know you will see officials wearing Black/While stripe head bands.

Not allowed here.

I've heard of people who keep one in their pocket and one official had it on his ankle......is it that important? Really?

For some people, the number of steps etc are turned into work related incentives. If it's not visible, who cares.

I would treat them the same as the more traditional band.

I started officiating in 1971 and at the time the only ring I wore was my H.S. ring which I did not wear it while officiating because it was not a wedding ring. When I graduated from college started my wearing my Order of Engineer Ring and wearing my college ring in place of my H.S. ring and like my H.S. ring I did not wear them while officiating because it was not a wedding ring.

I was still single when I graduated from college but when I did get married I did not wear my wedding ring while officiating because if the players could not wear jewelry neither should I. My wife of 34 years has always believed that me not wearing my wedding ring while officiating is the correct thing to do.

When in Rome, do what Mrs. Caesar (I think her name was Bernice) would do.
