Vid request technical vs flagrant 1 during live ball

Oregon state and PVAMU 10:02 first half. White 12 comes down with a rebound and traps Blue's arm. Blue tries to pull his arm out and gets it free, nothing illegal IMO. White 12 takes a jab at him as he runs by. Official comes in with a technical. They went to the media timeout and I think they corrected it awarding 2 and the ball at the spot. Could someone speak to differences between NCAA M and HS and whether administration was correct

We've seen this kind of thing before. Official observes an unsportsmanlike jab/shove/trip or whatever during a live ball. Instinctively, official gives the signal for a T. But we all know that live ball contact fouls by definition are not technical. Sounds like the media timeout gave the crew a chance to properly change the ruling to F1 personal.

If this is what happened, the administration was correct assuming the officials awarded the free throws to the Blue player who got jabbed.

Basically, F1 personal in NCAA = intentional personal in NFHS. Same administration (FTs, then ball at spot nearest the foul).

NCAA-M technical fouls:

Class A (unsporting): 2 shots and resume at POI
Class B: 1 shot and resume at POI
Administrative: 1 FT and resume at POI

For all technical fouls that are contact dead ball technical foul or flagrant 2 technical fouls: 2 shots and a throw in a half court (opposite or table depending on team's choice)

Does it say team's choice anywhere?

No (well, not in these rules; I didn't do a complete search for the term). But it does say "either side of the court."

The NCAA books are available for free download
