Everybody has bad days . . .

Crew from Rockets GSW game last night got 5 calls/no calls wrong in the last two minutes including the game winning play.

Sorry to hijack your thread but i will freely admit I dont watch much NBA (mainly basketball fatigue during the college season) but have watched parts of a playoff game here and there and it's obvious that the screening priciples are either codified differently or accepted to be called differently. Can anyone with chime with thoughts on that observation?

NBA: Harden should've been called for foul on winner | NBA.com

Reminds me of this:

I get it, they're professionals and supposed to get most every call correct. Still...

I couldn't imagine having to live up to this type of scrutiny every game. I understand the need and desire to get every call correct, but this just seems rough knowing that documents like this get put together...

It's called accountability...most people/professions in life don't have to endure such a high level of accountability. For the season, the NBA officials who are selected to work the playoffs have approx. a 95% correct call accuracy for the season (per the NBA - this crew was 77.27% accurate (17 of 22) in the last 2:00). HS and NCAA officials achieve significantly below 95% in their games/seasons.

It's a tough business, but you know what you get when you "sign up"....

I'd guess this is true, but I'd like to see the hard data, especially from HS games where these things simply aren't tracked as a matter of course.

I'd be comfortable agreeing with that assumption. I have worked with partners where I'm happy if they can hover around 50%.

It all depends on the threshold you use to determine which plays you included and which you exclude when counting your statistics.

Dribbler gets over the division line with 3 seconds on my count? Put me down for a CNC Mr. Observer!
