PITTSBURGH -- Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski defended the way the Blue Devils handled the fallout from Grayson Allen's second entanglement with an opponent this season.

The ACC issued a statement on Friday taking Allen to task for his involvement but declined to discipline him further. Krzyzewski believes it was the right call. The Hall of Famer spoke to his leading scorer after the Florida State game, and Krzyzewski apologized to Seminoles coach Leonard Hamilton before calling the league.

"I would not suspend any player for what would be a flagrant 1," Krzyzewski said. "What he got was the stiffest reprimand a player in our conference has gotten this year. I thought the [ACC] took action, and you've got to move on. The world doesn't move on, because it's Duke."

On Thursday, the sophomore guard stuck his left leg out and tripped Florida State's Xavier Rathan-Mayes with 3.4 seconds left in Duke's 15-point romp. That incident happened after Rathan-Mayes appeared to grab the back of Allen's jersey in an attempt to fling himself down court. Allen received a flagrant foul for tripping Louisville's Ray Spalding earlier this month.

On Sunday, Allen was jeered mercilessly by Pitt's student section -- heavily armed with signs highlighting his misdeeds -- and though he made six of 13 shots, he also turned the ball over four times and failed to make a real impact (though few of his teammates did better) in a 76-62 loss. Allen doesn't believe the issue will linger heading into March.

"It's just being smart," he said. "I've had to be smart all season. Obviously, I made a mistake, and I messed up."

Lots of Duke hate here. I love it. Much sweeter when they hoist a banner.

I have no dog in this fight, but I know a lack of class when I see it. And since I wear stripes frequently, I tend to call 'em like I see 'em.

Whether you're going to hoist a banner or not, get where you're going with respect for the rules, game and your opponents. For players on up through upper administration. Ain't happening right now.

There will be no banner hoisting this year.

Please allow me to share my favorite shot of the season.

Amesman, guess you didn't read my post near the top. I would not tolerate this crap if I were his coach and have already said its bush league. Read the entire thread.

But this thought and belief that Duke encourages dirty play is just silly.

You're right. I was being facetious.

But we'll see how the coach responds.

True, but public silence does not necessarily equate with actual silence.

On the flip side, a second occurrence doesn't help the impression.

Permit=Promote: Calapari, Self, Roy Williams, Bruce Pearl, Boeheim, enough yet?

ACC has issued public reprimand and Duke will handle internally. I would support a 1 game or 1/2 game suspension as a way to show others that it's not to be tolerated but there have been way worse scandals than this that folks won't cry about so much. UNC academic, Etc. I really do wish college bball was more pure but there is too much money involved.

And I refuse to believe K promotes tripping an opponent. I've seen him dress down players for less.

1/2 game suspension -- now *that* would be a joke.

Not helping the cause; I'm pretty sure most of us have been equally hard on those guys.

I think it would be worse than just keeping it all internal and not announcing it.

I don't really see the need for a suspension of any sort. If it had been caught, it would have been a DBCT with 2 shots and the ball to the other team and he would have kept playing. It doesn't make sense to turn that into a full game suspension (or even a half game) because it was missed.
