Thanks BNR. And billy, I knew it couldn't have been my fault! Guys in my group are having a fun time with it already. I'm just glad I'm didn't break something or hurt myself.

Better Than Not Showing Up For A Game That I Did Have ...

A few weeks ago, I showed up for a girls varsity game at a (luckily) nearby high school. I arrived at the site very early to observe the officials in the junior varsity game and I immediately noticed that a boys junior varsity game was going on. At may age, I can be forgetful, so no big deal, I'm working a boys game that night. Just before halftime of the junior varsity game, two (remember, this is two person Connecticut) varsity officials walk in. Turns out that my girls game at that school was the next night.

Our monthly board meeting was a few days later. Sure enough, our interpreter "complimented" me, in front of over three hundred members, for showing up really early for a game.

It actually wasn't that bad because right after the announcement about me, the interpreter announced that another official showed up on the right night for his game, but with no equipment bag. He had taken the wrong car that morning.

Officiating is a brotherhood, and like brothers, we really like to poke fun at each other.

Note: Our guys are always very strongly encouraged to confirm games. Neither the athletic director, nor my partner, noticed that I put the right date, but the wrong day of the week, in my confirmation email.

I thought you were going to say you were at the wrong school.

Almost every time I get to a school for a game something creeps into my head to make me think I'm at the wrong place, so I grab my phone quickly to double-check my schedule.

A Sigh Of Relief ...

That was my original thought. I was (wrongly) at School B. Since Boys School A was at Boys School B that night, I figured that Girls School B could be at Girls School A the same night (some schools schedule that way). That would have been a big problem since it was rush hour and I would of had to go through big city (big city for Connecticut) traffic to get to School A. I was pleased to just go home and eat a late dinner.
