Dunk gets caught between net and ring

There is a video going around of a game at Rutgers - Camden ( D3 school ) where a guy goes to dunk the ball and the ball gets caught in the net and wraps around the ring. After a few seconds the defensive player jumps up knocks the ball out of the net. The points are counted and the defensive player inbounds the ball with no whistle from anybody....

What do you got ????

Ball is touched while it is in the net? Basket interference.

How much time do you wait before you blow your whistle and kill the play...seems like a good five seconds and ball isn't going anywhere....

The ball "remained in" the basket so score the points. I'd blow a whistle and then have the defender get the ball and administer a throw-in.

See 5-1-1.

5-1-1: A goal is made when a live ball enters the basket from above and
remains in or passes through.

Wink

I had a driveway game once in which a drunk, not a dunk, got caught between the net and ring. He then fell to the ground so I called a ground rule double and also unintentional grounding. His penalty was having to share all his remaining vodka with the other team's captain.

OK - I'll get back on my meds now.

The ball was dead since, when it became stuck in the net, it was considered made. So, the defender just touched a dead ball....nothing.

Of course, either way team A gets 2 points and team B gets the ball anywhere along the endline.

Ah, I missed the "remains in" phrase in 5-1-1.
