Shoes & Achilles Tendon Issues

Does anyone have achilles tendon problems? Do mid-cut shoes cause discomfort by rubbing against your heel? I'm thinking about low-cut shoes. Any ideas or suggestions?

Disclosure: I've also asked this question on another forum. The more advice I can get, the better I'll be able to make an intelligent decision.

I have Achilles pain from time to time. Much of it went away when I started using shoe inserts and switched to Reebok Zigs. The right one still feels a little tender from time to time, especially when I work 5-6 days in a week.

I think it all depends on the heel cup and not the height of the back of the shoe. But, I am not a doctor.

You may be right, Bob, but the top of the shoe's back rubs against the tender part of my heel, where my Achilles tendons problems are. Same problem with winter boots (which I've worn a lot this year!). Sandals? No problem.

Step Stretch

I use a step stretch (you can google it) and an achillies wrap when mine are sore. Since I started with the step stretch I have not had any serious problems.

I've started doing a yoga-oriented cardio workout in the last year. When I started I couldn't even touch my toes. Now, that's child's play.

I don't think it's a coincidence that I've had less pain this year than in any previous year.
