I love the PU's body language as he's watching the dish. He knows he's gotta make that call, and he's saying to himself "Well Self, here's where I get yelled at for doing my job". Or something like that.
And they make the right mechanics for sorta putting the ball back in play. (No, you don't need a batter in the box for that). That's always good. I like the way the PU glances at the home dugout, too. Then exits, stage left. |

Oz, I think he saw the miss, and also noticed that F2 did, too. Then he knew he was in for some sort of squaredance, to get the appeal correct.
F2 did a good job of not giving it away, until the BR got to the dugout (just guessing that's what he was looking for). Once he couldn't return, then the appeal was ON. Our local Little League park has it's All Stars tourney start this weekend. I'm going down to give a three team clinic on how to make appeals, both for the players and coaches. I do it every year, and every year it comes up, and our league looks pretty smart executing appeals properly. |

The PU did everything right, as I can see it. He did look like for a second that he was thinking "Maybe if I don't turn around, it will just go away"

True ... with one exception that never comes up... except for in the OP.
