NCAA Video question
Guys, has anyone taken a look at the NCAA video site lately?
Sign In This is a retrace steps play that has something that made a few of us question. Watch carefully when Tom shows the runner sliding into third - :29 into the video. The third baseman drops his mitt down to fake the runner, right? The ball was crushed and other infielders react to the hit ball. When this was first described to me, I had not referenced the video. My fellow umpire insists that if it had simply been a line drive single that it was not OBS on the third baseman since the fake was minor. Agree? |

I agree with this. Also as I recall watching the video, it was a fake "field" not a fake tag so it would be nothing in either code.

Then we don't agree.

Sorry. I agree that a fake take is a FED rule, not an NCAA rule and that if this were a fake tag, it would be OBS in FED. I agree that it's nothing in NCAA.
I went back to watch it and still have it as a fake fielding play. S I would have nothing in either code. |
