Think of it this way. The guy who interferes is always out. In the case of batter interference with the catcher, the batter is out except for three instances.
1. the throw retires the runner so the interference is ignored; 2. the runner is attempting to score with less than two outs; 3. the batter is already out so we get a second out on the play. |
