Dropped third strike

2 outs. Dropped 3rd strike.

BR starts walking toward the dugout.

How far can he go before he forfeits the right to run to first?

MLB

Cool

The edge of the dirt circle.

Unless you're playing in Cincinnati, apparently.

If the catcher starts toward him probably 1 step before he can be called out for a 3 foot violation.

I got the $ 120 MLB thing and I haven't used it at all. Are you going to make me learn how to use it or will you post a link?

So what ever happened to the new "no catch/safe signal" mechanic on uncaught third strikes? Is it optional?

As I had just mentioned yesterday, the Doug Eddings Controversy strikes again (Matt, that would be a good band name).

Wow, what a goat rodeo.

My favorite is watching the third base coach in the middle of the diamond when the throw goes to second base.

I don't have my rules books with me (for once), What's the parameter for a batter/running be called out in NCAA and NFHS?

To answer my own question...I went out to my car to get my BRD

NFHS: One a drop third strike with fewer than two out, the batter may try for first until the time of the next pitch or until he "reaches his bench or other dead-ball area"...

NCAA: The batter is out if he does not try for first before he "leaves the dirt area surrounding home plate heading towards his dugout"

-Josh
