It's not MLB, but it's adults in a professional league.

Larry Bowa is an absolute rat. He is on MLB Network right now talking about the West ejection of Gardenhire and DiMuro ejection of Mattingly last night. He says that Gardenhire should get a lot of leeway because he has been around a long time and has had good teams. Says that you're not supposed to argue balls and strikes, but West shouldn't have ejected him. Also defended Francona when Angel Hernandez dumped him the other night after the balk. Criticized West for putting his hands on Francona and said that his beef wasn't with West, but West "prevented Francona from finding out what the balk was about". (Too bad he'd already been dumped and West was playing rodeo clown)

His defense of the Mattingly ejection was even worse. He claims that Mattingly and Uribe handled it good, then goes on to trash DiMuro. He says the ball was trapped, even though it looks like it hit F7's webbing in his glove. Bowa goes on to say that Mattingly "Obviously had a better viewpoint from the bench". The worse part is Bowa lying about DiMuro saying that DiMuro told Mattingly that he wasn't sure about the call. Of course then we get the "All he had to do was go ask another umpire and no one would be ejected". (Except for the Pirates manager if the call was reversed. Not to mention there was a runner on first and you would be changing a catch to a no-catch) Also said that DiMuro should have went to ask for help "Out of respect". He is a piece of crap.

As I recall, Bowa was the first, and maybe the only MLB coach to be ejected for refusing to wear a helmet in the coach's box, even after being warned. His statement was along the line of, "They can fine me every day, I'm never wearing an effing helmet."

And we all know how well that went...

That video of Joe West is the classic video for the importance of "owning your own call." The second he goes to the PU for help there's nothing but trouble coming.

I still think that the umpire in Offerman's video did a pretty bad job of acting like he was punched. It doesn't negate Offie looking like a thug though.

Ever seen a baseball game in the Third World? Crazy stuff happens almost every night. Those umpires earn their pay.

That's a perfect example of lazy umpiring. Perhaps he had the call right to start with, but then he asked and changed it??

Don't see how PU could say that he was certain he saw the tag. You would think that West would say if you are not for sure, let's leave it as it is, but it looked like he was caught flat footed.

And MLB wonders why more and more the umpires are being scrutinized.

Thanks
David
I saw Joe miss a similar call very badly last year because of the same laziness. I think maybe he changed his mind because he figures he misses stuff so often? Or, he changed his mind because he knew he did not get where he needed to be?

Upton drank some Milton Bradley juice....What the heck is with that guy? You usually do not see a batter go that crazy when the PU is that calm.
