South Carolina
We pay the state $35 (which includes NFHS registration), and $50 to the local association.
Pay is $65 for the plate, $60 for the bases, regardless of varsity or JV.

So, I either A) accept the policy, 2) don't umpire HS ball here, or D) move somewhere else. I chose A, since my job requires me to live here and doesn't allow me the freedom to exclusively do college ball (all varsity games here are night games which works great for me). Now, for any other ball I do, mainly Senior League and American Legion, the pay is the same for either ump.

If the new 1204 ever goes through, game fees will rise to $60/$55 plus the radius mileage plan. The money they make on LI is insane. The only sport you can work out here and make that much that I'm aware of is ice hockey.

It's consistent with how basketball DH's (for under levels) are paid -- the DH fee < 2*single fee.
