Interesting balk call.

Davidson calls the balk. From his angle it does appear that F1 started home first. Then made the 3rd to 1st move.

Davidson gets a bad rap sometimes, but F1 is clearly coming home before the pickoff attempt. I've got a balk on this one.

it was humorous listening to the baseball tonight guys talk about this play to paraphrase:

"this is how the practiced it" "the umpire is injecting himself into the game" "there's no way that is a balk"

unreal

Looked like he started his motion, set his foot down in front of the plate then made a move to third, then first. I have a balk also.

Just curious: what makes the call "interesting?" Seems routine to me.

The fact that it was argued as much as it was.

Announcers babbling about something does not, an argument, make. Clear, clean balk.

"That's how he practices it..." LOL. Coach tried that recently on me during a softball game when his girl broke the LBR. I call her out, he says, "But blue, that's what we told her to do!" I say, "Well, that out's on you then."

I know but skip comes unglued on Davidson. That's a step balk isn't it?

Or is the "step balk" part of the rule only for LHP?

You're not even supposed to argue step balks...

That is one of the worst pick off moves I have ever seen. Clearly a balk all the way.

Peace

Good call, might be the first balk Davidson got right all season but this was a balk. Where is the pitcher stepping towards...the dugout? They should get rid of this play all together.

Word is that Angel Hernandez also called the balk and he wasn't even at the game.
