Batter Leans Into a Pitch
Inside pitch that is not a strike. Batter intentionally leans into it with his shoulder or he intentionally sticks his leg in the way of the pitch.
If it was not going to be a strike is it simply a ball and a dead ball with the batter still at bat? If it would have been ball four I assume its dead and the batter takes first? |

Yeah, I just love it when they lean into ball four! ROGLMAO!!!
If it's on ball 1, 2, or 3 I just say, "Ball, stay right there!" in a tone reminiscent of my old Middle School Vice Prinicipal when he was about to whoop my behind with the paddle with the holes in it. A couple of weeks ago I was on the bases and my partner called Strike 3 on a guy that stuck his elbow into the zone and got it whacked for nothing. What a maroon! Boy, was he pissed! BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

If you have a HBP where you judge that the player "permitted the pitch to hit him" (new FED language) or that he "made no attempt to avoid" the pitch (OBR), the proper mechanic is:
"TIME! That's a (pick one: ball or strike)! Stay right there, batter!" Unless of course it's strike 3 or ball 4, in which case we leave off the last part. It's important to call time so that other runners not forced do not advance on the play.

Yeah, I forgot to add the "Time" part, but yes, it precedes the latter part.
