Question about the Officials Choice shirts...
I've got a few and love the darn things. I guess I do not wear a shirt to death... got so many some get only a wear or 3 a season. Sale on the black ones (like the MLB ones) with polo trim... how can $10 be wrong?
Some guys don't like them... up my way, they are pretty well received - comfy - well made. Anyhow, they are on sale!

Bad quality and the company runs on a stupid business model. Is that enough?

$10 isn't wrong. Spending it on OC shirts....that's wrong.

Yeah, how? I love the company's incoherent message, its one-of-a-kind products and its curious business practices. I love its wide variety of non-standard colors, non-standard trim styles and that distinctive see-through fabric---all of which makes any umpire stand out no matter who he walks out onto a field with to do a ballgame.

The newest offer is something to behold: FREE polo blue ball bags! AND, the price of the new, extremely dark polywool slacks is going up! Tell your president and assignors! It's going up.

It can be wrong when you wear one when doing the plate and you can see the logo on your chest protector through it.

Or that the fabric is so cheap that even the pockets on the shirt droop down because the material is so thin.

Or it can be wrong when you're purchasing a black shirt from them with polo blue trim. Seriously?

I have several of the OC shirts and they are fine. They may not hold up as long as higher priced shirts but at that price I can afford to replace them more often.

Why not just buy quality shirts and not replace them as often?

And who the hell wants a polo blue ball bag?

What he said. I made the Official's Choice mistake once--never again. They still send me emails, and those are good for a chuckle.

The same people who bought those 2-tone +POS bags?

I went to an association meeting a few weeks ago and someone was selling a navy jacket. I needed one, tried it on, and it seemed to be pretty good quality. It's from OC. My opinion hasn't changed on it yet.

But the story of how I ended up with it is pure "OfficialsChoice." Guy ordered one, they charged him for 2 and shipped 2 to him and wouldn't pay for the return shipping. He sold the second one to me for $35.

Now that I've read this thread, I have a sneaking suspicion: Let me look at it next to a short sleeved one that I just got from PurchaseOfficials.

Oh, wait. The OC's jacket's stripes are all wrong. Wrong width, wrong colors (just barely, but I can tell), would only completely match someone wearing the same jacket. Figures. Now I'll have to order a jacket from another place. I should've known better.

BUT, if any of you don't care about that kind of thing, PM me and I'll sell it to you for $25 shipped. I'll eat $10 + shipping for my own stupidity. Size XL. I'm a L and the jacket feels about a size too big, so I'd say it runs true to size compared with Honig's and the Smitty jackets.

Their stuff is okay IF you're outfitting a whole bunch of guys, AND the shirts are $10. That's what I did. My park was fully stocked with navy, but I wanted polo for hot days. I bought a bunch, and it's worked out fine. They do run huge, and are built for "square" people, but for my situation it's perfect.

I do love the long sleeved black shirt of theirs. Again, they were $10. They're silky smooth, fit nicely over plate gear, and look sharp.

Now, they don't match other makers, so I can't use them when working outside my little circle of umpires. But for certain circumstances, their stuff is fine.

Would I buy their pants? No. I'm a Honig's polywool convert

Jackets? No.I like my +POS.

Now, if they made a $100, black plate coat..............maybe.

But geez, some of the stuff they come up with. It's as if the only taste they have is in their mouth.
