GREAT tip. The stuff I got is called 550 Type III Commercial Nylon Paracord. 550lb. test and made in the USA. 10 bucks for 100 ft. Thanks.

550 cord, we used it in the military, love that stuff... but im not using it on my shoes, and those will not break.

What about the ends? How do you keep them from fraying?

Melt them with a lighter and flatten them a bit by pressing the softened nylon against cold metal. A word of caution: If the lace catches fire, the drips of melted nylon are hotter than the flame that melted it. Be careful.
