while you are recovering, it would be no problem to wear a soccer shin guard or football arm pad UNDER a long sleeve shirt......I dont think anyone would have a problem with that.....

After you heal, you might want to revisit your arm position relative to your stance....what ever you do ...do not adopt the "ice skater" arms behind the back stance....that will pretty much get panned...

As for the balloon.........not sure what level of baseball you do, but using a balloon pretty much restricts you to the summer kiddie leagues.....

The balloon was a threat to myself out of frustration. The first umpire job I did at 16 was using my dad's balloon protector.( I did feel pretty safe behind it though. I will puruse a pad for the short term with a long sleeve approach. I will check my alignment and stance as well. Thanks y'all.
