I'm seeing this on the softball board, too. More USSSA questions are being asked than in previous years. Does that mean USSSA is growing, or does that mean USSSA coaches and umpires are less knowledgeable than those in other sanctioning bodies?

Babe Ruth has been battling USSSA and BPA for the better youth baseball players in my area for quite some time. I actually believe that adding the modified 70/50 for Cal Ripken was a direct reaction to the problem. Even now some of the larger Babe Ruth leagues in my area are contemplating becoming travel ball parks exclusively. LL big diamond play has been holding it's own, but only as a second option to Legion and HS Summer ball.

Amazing to me how many different "World Series" they have in one summer. Thanks David |

We've seen a shift in my area for travel teams to play USSSA instead of AAU which was very popular when I first moved to this area 8 years ago. Most of the feedback I got was that USSSA charged less to play and teams were taking on less expense as a result.

As a sidenote, I do not like working the smallball USSSA in this area because most times they are played on skinned diamonds with portable mounds. The lack of infield grass in baseball games annoys me (but not in softball games, go figure).
