I was just wondering if anyone on this board worked usssa ball. What if any major rules differences are there. Also what is the specified uniform and where can I buy it. Our league is switching to USSSA this year.

USSSA is very similar to Fed.
I haven't updated it yet, but I have a paper listing most differences between USSSA and FED for 2002 rules. Email me if you want a copy of last years edition. USSSA rules can be found on line at http:info.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-general/2002-03FPRulebook.htm The uniform in NC is Red USSSA shirts. The lower garmets vary. My booking agent uses grey slacks(I only do USSSA baseball and fastpitch). There is a group around Charlotte which uses the black shorts and USSSA socks. Roger Greene |

Here in East Texas, we use the red shirt, grey slacks, the offifical black cap with USSSA in Red bordered in white and has red bill. Official ball bag is black with gold letter- ing. However, we are allowed to utilize the gray bag. {I cannot not see where it would matter since only one umpire utilizes the ball bag. Shoes, socks, and belts all black. Tee shirt if worn is white. Jacket is solid red or blue, however, again must match partner. I ordered from phone in. Address is below: United States Specialty Sports Assoc., Inc. 3935 South Crater Road Petersburg, VA 23808 PH # 804-732-4899 Hope this is helpful.. BTW: Roger does have a good rules differences paper. glen

And here in North Texas we also use the red mesh pullover and the grey slacks. I also only do fastpitch these days, though for many years, when I did call slowpitch (or slo-pitch as USSSA used to call it), I actually called more USSSA slowpitch than ASA.
Incidentally, the slo-pitch faction around here uses either the black slacks or the black shorts with the red pullovers. Scott |

USSSA vs. ASA
I actually call a lot of USSSA slow pitch. I've drafted a comprehensive chart in Word contrasting the two associations on numerous rules re: slow pitch (I can't help you w/ baseball). If anyone wants it, please e-mail me (it's still a work in progress, at least until the 2003 ASA rule book comes out), but I think it's close to being a final product. I would appreciate any constructive criticism.
