NFHS Rules
The ball is dead immediately when the umpire verbally announces "foul ball".

Whereas in 2006 I believe the correct answer would have been "True", today I would say the correct answer is "False".

"Immediate Dead Ball" is covered in Rule 5-1-1. Hint: See paragraph h.

Thanks for the responses.

I had answered false for the reason given, but the answer was marked incorrect. I will chalk it up to an incorrect key.
