NFHS Bases Awarded Question

NFHS R1 less than 2 outs. Groundball to F5 who attempts to get the force at 2nd. R1 beats the throw. F4 then turns and throws to F3 but the throw goes out of play.

Where do we place the runners?

For my education, can you also cite the relevant rule in NFHS. Thanks.

answer is the same in all codes. r1 scores. he was on second at the time of the throw to F3. b/r to 2b as he had not reached 1b yet. 2 bases from time of throw as it was no longer the first play from an infielder.

Trying to do this quickly, I've left off a rule as to time of pitch or time of throw (but the awards table will tell you that). What I did find is 8-3-3-c-2

This award is 2 bases TOT.

R1 has reached 2B when the throw is made, so he scores. BR obviously hasn't reached 1B or the throw wouldn't have been made to 1st. BR gets 2B.
