If you Renew/Join and Order 2008 BRD...
I was anxious to get my officiating year started off right yesterday so I went ahead and renewed my Officiating.com membership. Naturally I wanted to use my $25 credit toward a 2008 BRD. The order page lists 2006 BRD and not 2008. I went ahead and ordered anyway and sent an e-mail to Carl Childress asking to be sent 2008 not 2006. He assured me, by e-mail within an hour of ordering, that I would get 2008 not 2006 and that the web page was in process of being updated. He also expressed desire that others would be as trusting and courageous to order with the wrong date listed. I thanked him and urge all of you to go ahead, renew and order 2008 BRD via e-mail to editor via link on page or to: [email protected].

msavakinas,
Correct, "Baseball Rule Differences" by Carl Childress. It covers the differences between OBR, FED, NCAA, & NAIA. But it's really more than that. It's really a pretty comprehensive book covering interpretations for the myriad situations that might occur in baseball game (over 500 such), and then provides the Official Interpretations (where available) & authoritative opinions which guide the proper ruling on the situation in question, while pointing out the diffferences (where they exist) between the codes addressed. I believe Carl initially published it in the early 80's and then published an "updated" version each year (with the conspicuous exception of 2007), including new rulings made and addressing rule changes since the previous edition. The membership on the paid site costs $50.00 per year. With a paid memebrship, you get a $25 "credit" at the website store - which is roughly what the BRD costs. JM

Anyone received 2008 BRD Yet?
Just wondering. Home page of the site said shipped when printed in mid-January. It is now end of January. I have the time to sit and read it now and would like to see it. Just got my first game assignment-2/23/08, usually it is still pretty cold then here in Kentucky. Still looking forward to it.

The new BRD's are here, the new BRD's are here..
My apologies to Steve Martin in "The Jerk". Papa C says they are coming this week. Looking forward to perusing this book. Doing FED, NCAA, NAIA this spring (Not to mention OBR all summer) can make your head swim. This book makes it simple(r) to keep up with the differences and the cases in which they apply.

Look in there and see if it maintains you cannot have coaches interference when the ball is dead. I say you can have interference until the end of all playing action.

Example 2. Same as Example 1. except coach grabs runners arm and shoves him back to third therefore robbing defense of a chance to appeal. You make the call.
