Look, I don't need a special set of laws to protect me. There's plenty on the books already. Hit me, and I'm either going to defend myself, or press charges and sue you. If I go to self defense mode, more than likely it will end quite badly for the aggressor. If I decide to just press charges, you will go to jail, and I will own your house and cars.

You haven't traveled this legal road, you will find it both extremely expensive, less than as fruitful as you believe, time consuming and all too often unsatisfactory.

The difference is that either we are valued for the service that we put in, as umpires who mostly work with the nation's youth, or we are not.

Solid protection for wives abused from their abusers? The point is essentially moot, if we don't pay teachers their social value, or protect the completely helpless who are abused, we as umpires are so far down the value chain, we're screwed.
