Care for NB Plate Shoe

Very satisfied with this shoe, and would like to know how some of you are taking care of it after games. NB add says to just wipe clean, but doesn't say with what. I've used some common spray cleaner, but am wondering if something with oil content should be occasionally used to replenish the leather. What can be done to make this shoe last a long time.

Put some Flubber on them. Just kidding., I am contemplating buying a pair of the NB's myself. I already have the base shoes. What I use to wipe them clean is Armor All Leather Wipes if they are not too dirty. If they are really dirty, I will take a wet rag and wipe the dirt off and then use the Leather Wipes. A buddy of mine carries a spray bottle filled with a water and Murphy's oil soap mixture. I tried that but have found that it leaves a little residue on the shoe.

Care for NB Plate Shoes

I purchased one of those small California car dusters. The duster is great for a quick cleaning between double headers and leaves a kind of sheen. For a nice shine before games I take the time to wipe them down and I use the Kiwi leather Premiere Shine. Put it on and let it dry. The plate shoes hold the shine very well. The lack of maintenance on some of these fields sure makes keeping shoes looking good throughout the game difficult. First impressions. Does anyone else starch their pants too?

I would just use a rag dampened with water. If it is really dirty, you can also use some saddle soap on the leather, as this will clean and also help replenish the leather.

I'd personally avoid using any kind of Armor All as I've seen it eventually crack the leather on a partner's shoes.

Don't get too complicated with cleaning your NB plate shoes. As Steven said, hit 'em with your plate brush, when you get home run 'em under the water in the sink, brush the sides of the soles in the water, dry 'em off.

They shine like a new penny!

For more permanent care, Leather Luster does work on these.

To clean them thoroughly when they're really filthy, take a can of Dow Scrubbing Bubbles, spray it on, and let it dissolve. The dirt will wash away, and if you need to, a follow-up with a squirt of water and a wipe will finish the job.

BTW, Scrubbing Bubbles do wonders on all my base shoes, too.
