Question Pitch Count Violation

Our leage does not have an impartial person to keep pitch counts so we rely on both benches keeping counts and splitting the difference whe (to everyone's surprise" their counts differ for a given pitcher.

Situation: With a 2-1 count (I think) the offensive manager claims the pitcher met his max pitch count with the previous batter. Although the defensive team has a lower count the manager agrees to replace the pitcher. The offensive manager wants the count restarted on his current batter. I know that exceeding pitch count is grounds for a protest, but I ruled that we do not restart the count. I could not find anything in the ruls about the penalty for exceeding the pitch count. Can anyone clarify the penalty and tell me if this or any other situation requires that the count is restared on a batter?

I doubt you'll find 'pitch count' in any ruleset.

Hey, looky there! I stand humbly corrected. But is that officially part of the LL ruleset now? I thought it was experimental.

I haven't worked any Little League yet this year, but I saw it in our local rag where both starters reached the limit and were replaced.

Eteamz is the best resource for LL questions, IMHO. http://eteamz.active.com/baseball/bo...cfm?id=1813449
is a thread which covers many aspects of an exceeded pitch count. I didn't read it all, so I don't know if it addresses whether to reset the batter's count. If it doesn't, I recommend registering and posting the question there.

In LL you don't reset the count.

If an inelligible pitcher is discovered you replace him and continue from that point. The offended manager can play under protest if he wishes. The protest committee decides how to handle it.

When a LL pitcher reaches his pitch limit, he is allowed to complete the current at-bat.

Regulation VI(c) Exception:
If a pitcher reaches the limit imposed in Regulation VI (c) for his/her league age while facing a batter, the pitcher may continue to pitch until that batter reaches base or is put out."

And wrong. Juniors (13-14), Seniors (15-16) and Big League divisions of LL play on the big diamond and all have pitch count regulations this season.
