actually if the ball goes directly from bat to glove, doesn't hit the ground and is eventually gotten under control by any defensive player, it's a foul tip.

While your statement is correct for a game played under FED rules, it is incorrect for a game played under OBR rules. JM

1) What is the rule on a 3rd strike foul tip if the ball gets lodged in the catchers armpit without hitting his glove first. Not a foul tip. Foul Ball. 2) What if the ball hits his glove then bounces off his mask and then is caught? Not a foul tip: Third Strike Caught. Is the hitter still out? Yes. Not entitled to try for 1st.
