Foul Tip
What is the rule on a 3rd strike foul tip if the ball gets lodged in the catchers armpit without hitting his glove first. What if the ball hits his glove then bounces off his mask and then is caught? Is the hitter still out

In 1st it is a foul ball not a foul tip. In 2nd it is a foul tip and he is out. |
If it hits the hand or glove first, doesn't hit the ground, and is eventually gotten under control by the catcher, it's a foul tip.

actually if the ball goes directly from bat to glove, doesn't hit the ground and is eventually gotten under control by any defensive player, it's a foul tip.

3apples,
While your statement is correct for a game played under FED rules, it is incorrect for a game played under OBR rules. JM |
