LL obstruction call

http://youtube.com/watch?v=M9pnrKQIZ...elated&search=

This looks to be from Eastern LL baseball regional in CT. I do not believe i would have sent the runner to second on this, just give him 1B, but what do you think.

I think that you should review a LL rule book to learn what is to be done if obstruction occurs when a play is being made on the obstructed runner.

Check out what the first baseman did on the previous play without the ball.
Would you have called obstruction on the previous play?
DC and F3 will then claim F3 got out of the way.
Then check out what he did on the pick off attempt.
He intentionally blocks the path of the runner while a play is being made

Time! That's obstruction. You, second base.

The award, in LL, is not optional.

Consider Broken Ankle

Suppose the runner never saw F3's leg in front of the bag and he delivers a power kick right to the bag. F3 may have never recovered in time to play another ballgame that entire season. There must be an easier way to get an out. I sure hope coaches know and tell him what he has done and why he shouldn't do it anymore.

It's obstruction in NCAA, as well.

Just the snapshot of the play. Obviously college kids don't need to wait to lead.

LLer's Rule

Read Rule 2.00 Definitions of Terms once daily for two weeks. It is probably the longest of all.

Read 6.00, 1.00 and 6.00 one night; 7.00, 3.00 and 7.00 one night; 8.00, 4.00 and 8.00 one night; and 9.00, 5.00 and 9.00 one night. Read Rule 2.00 again and continue to read the rules every so often. Also read your LL Manual, if necessary.

I'm not sure if you know this but LL and OBR rules match very closely. If you're near a computer, google mlb rules and read a section of the mlb rules. The font is much larger and it is much easier to relax in front of the computer than in front of a book written in such "fine" print.

Good luck,
