Run Score? #2
Another one from the world of fans.
"Runners on second and third, two outs, two strikes on the batter. Runner on third starts a straight steal of home. He slides in as the batter is swinging, if not slightly before. Batter misses the ball, but so does the catcher. Catcher retrieves the ball from the backstop and throws out the runner at first. Am I correct in assuming the run does not count because of the force at first? Happened in USSSA game, and the run was allowed." Thanks guys.

I think you might correct. It was the third out. Just like if the ball was hit and the guy was thrown out at first. Run would not count. Now if there was only 1 out, and it was a "dropped third strike" (catcher missing the ball) Then the run would score, as there would on be 2 outs after getting throwed out at first. Not 100% need help here guys lol

No run may score on a play where the 3rd out is made on the BR before BR reaches first base. (1st base is not a force, BTW).
So right - no run.

The umpire blew the call. Like Crowder said, the 3rd out was made before the BR touched 1st base. Here is the rule: 4.09(a)EXCEPTION(1).
