Crews

Anyone know how you can find out in advance which crew will be working a game? Thanks.

Can you be more specific - are you talking about a specific league? Or generally how umpire associations handle it? Or something else?

The only thing MLB will tell is whether or not a specific umpire is working at the game you want to attend. But this is only if you ask.

For example...If you ask MLB if Joe Brinkman is working in Detroit this weekend? They will tell you yes or no. If MLB's answer is no, they will not tell what umpires are there due to security reasons.

I hope this helps you out.

Security Reasons ????

If they are worried about security, then they shouldn't answer at all. Especially with a yes.

Don't tell me, MLB Security Consultant used to work for the Airlines ?

I always heard it was due to gambling, not necessarily security issues.

work scedules

MLB crews work series at a time, usually. So, if you're going to the middle or late game in a series, check previous day's box. That should tell you who worked and just follow the rotation for who you might see behind the plate.

If you know a MLB umpire, you could ask him for his schedule. They get April through August in March. September is done late to set up best crews with most appropriate series as dictated by standings.
