However, it might be wise to learn 3- and 4-man mechanics from more widely accepted manuals, and then tailor them to the particular needs of a given game or tourney. I had a guy volunteer to work 3-man with my partner and me during a tourney on Saturday. Hot, and our third was just bored, picking up the game between his other assignments. So I (PU) checked with them ahead of time: you guys both know 3-man? Yes, yeah, let's go. Uh huh. I was directing traffic all damn day.

So do we, and we use "real" mechanics also. I was just being a smart a$$, like usual.
mbyron, One of my pet peeves is working with a partner for the first time, and trying to do a pre-game with him, and he's too good to discuss mechanics and positioning with me. I had a guy recently that kept telling me, "I know what to do, we don't need to go over anything." I'm thinking, what is this dude's trip? I just want to be on the same page, I'm not trying to say he's an idiot, or some kind of rook. Turns out the guy sucked big time, and was never where he was supposed to be. He had the plate, and didn't cover 3rd on a 1st to 3rd play. Of course I wasn't able to relate this coverage in the non-existent pre-game, because he kept over-talking me telling me how great he was and needed no pre-game.
