10.06 A base hit shall not be scored in the following cases:
(d) When a fielder fails in an attempt to put out a preceeding runner, and in the scorer's judgement the batter-runner could have been put out at first base. NOTE: This shall not apply if the fielder merely looks toward or feints toward another base before attempting to make a putout at first base. So, score this a base hit. So what's the deal, does this determine whether a pitcher pitched a no-hitter, batter set's a BA record if the hit counts, what? Last edited by DG; Wed Jun 21, 2006 at 08:39pm.
