good ejection??

I worked as PU for an Amateur League (adult game) this afternoon and ejected a player in the top of the 2nd. Here's the situation....

1st pitch.... called strike... batter turns toward me and says "you've got to be joking"

2nd pitch... high and out of the zone... swing and miss... strike two

3rd pitch... high and out of the zone... swing and miss... strike three

As he leaves the batters box he says "f**k you"...ejection time! He said that he was saying it to himself and not directing it at me. I told him that he should have ended it with me and not you and waited until he was out of earshot of me. One of his teammates said "come on blue this isn't a high school game"

I felt confident in the ejection but an curious how some of the other veterans would have dealt with this. Any comments?

No brainer ejection. I wouldn't even break a sweat with the big thumb. Flick of the wrist and a quiet "you're done."

Any umpire who doesn't eject a games participant for saying FU isn't doing their job. Good ejection!

Funny as how I was reading this I thought to myself "I bet he's going to say he was saying it to himself" TOO PREDICTABLE.

Even if he was, and maybe he was, no place for that. He can now learn to treat people with more respect, even if that person is himself.

Anytime somebody refers to themselves in the 2nd person it should be an auto ejection anyway.

Complete no brainer. Just like the coach yesterday that was looking straight at me and said that the outcome of the game was pre meditated. All calls would go agaisnt him. He got a quick trip to the parking lot to.Later he tells me he was talking about the board of directors of the local league.
And I just fell off the turnip truck to.

Is there a 'bad' ejection?

I am surprised at all of you for not understanding the batters intentions! We need to find out why this batter said the "F" bomb and understand his frustration with the situation. There was an obvious conflict with the called strike which the batter carried through his entire at-bat. It is shameful that all of you would simply eject this person without a full understanding of his situation on the field and yes, even his personal situation and feelings. Ejections are just a lack of understanding on the part of the official. I personally pride myself on throughly questioning the individual in this type of situation so that I may acquire a full understanding of the situation.

Pause while I take more medication!

There, now as I was saying, the present day acceptance of being an understanding official just sickens me - dump the ingrate!

I agree. We don't know what kind of hard life the batter may have had. In fact, I'm getting kind of teary just thinking about it. When a player tells us to go f*** ourselves, perhaps we should look deep within our consciences and ask whether he has a point. Maybe our best response would be just a smile.

That reminds me, we of the Peace and Love Coalition invite you to a candlelight march on July 1 at 9 p.m. to persuade the governor of New Jersey to pardon a serial kill . . . uh, person with difficult-to-meet needs. We know he deserves this pardon, because he has written a lot of poetry in jail and spoken out strongly against world hunger. Also, there's some question about the legality of the search of his basement when they supposedly "found" the 23rd body. At least a dozen Hollywood stars will be there. The march begins at the statehouse. See you in Trenton!

If he's talking to another personality within himself, does that count as TWO ejections?

If he says it to himself would that be construed as oral sex?

Bravo!

In fact, if you can find him at his house, dump him again. Then say you were just ejecting yourself.

Strikes and outs!

Now that's just a little too much, even here in California the land of fruits and nuts. Which reminds me of a little joke. Why is California like Granola Cerial? Once you gets past the fruits and nuts all you have left are the flakes.
