With all due respect, in OBR the pitcher need not throw a warm-up pitch to be considered an unannounced substitute. All he must do is take his position on the rubber, and he's the pitcher. Only in Little League do they add the phrase, "and throws one warm-up pitch to the catcher." Rule 3.08(a)(1).
